"Leading Mexican label Duro welcome countryman Rigopolar for four of his fantastically expansive and expressive disco tunes.
The now US based Rigopolar is a cosmic explorer and space sound aficionado with credits on the likes of Tom Tom Disco dating back five or so years. His mix of disco & techno has taken him to gigs round the world, podcasts for Soma & remixes on the likes of Beat is Murder.
Brilliant opener "Black Mantis" is a spooky cut with a mysterious lead that takes you into a mystic forest. The drums move things on as sci-fi sounds and withering synths add details to this most evocative musical story. "Espiral" is a colourful, psychedelic scandi-disco classic with looping arps taking you ever further into the stars. Its craftsmanship is second to none as it draws you deeper & deeper in.
The scintillating "Time" is another lush cut with plenty of glistening & glowing synths. Always ascending through the mix, they lift your spirits and hands in equal measure while the deeper drums keep your feet moving. Last of all is "Crashes", a slower & more melancholic track that is paired back to a steamy vocal & rolling drums. Poignant one-finger melody brings tenderness to this brilliantly introspective closer. This is an exceptional trip though timeless disco with a difference".

True to form, it's a global EP with artists from Mexico City, Sydney, Naples, and Hebden Bridge. First up, label favourite "La Guardia De La Luz" does what he does best, with en epic psychedelic disco mid-tempo chugger. Subtle rhythm guitar, bouncing bass and 80s pads set the scene for strings and stabs as they work their magic.
Next up, "Uomo Meccanico" takes the red eye for a late night hypnotic slice of electronic house music. Shimmering stabs, trippy pads, filtered vocal sample build into epic deepness. One for the floor as the light creeps in at 6am and everything starts going sideways.
Johnny Deep takes his electronic funk low and slow. Pops, glitches & burbles provide some serious swing over a bottom end that rides the sub. Slow burning dance floor ignition guaranteed.
Finally, Flash Atkins brings the soul with a track that is as loose & easy as a Mediterranean Summer. Amy Collins sings of an early morning walk home after a loved up encounter on the dance floor as Dan Goldman lays the keys and grooves for some disco love.
Bayu Putra & Massey - The Experience Of Space (released on 09.09.2024) Description from Bandcamp: "The Sprechen & Jakarta link ups continue with this latest offering which comes in collaborative form by Sprechen founder Chris Massey and Bayu Putra (the artist formerly known as Baypoet!) on "The Experience Of Space". 3 straight up, no nonsense club tracks of the Italo Space Disco kind. Prepare for some serious massaging of your endorphins".

"Hang The Love" is out of the gates and thunders along with pumping bass lines atop soaring synths and piano keys giving it a peak time or end of nighter vibe. Familiarity ensures yet there's something distinctly original about this fusion of the Manchester & Indonesian underground. Well recommended!
"Anila Dancer" keeps on the tip of Hang The Love but treads into tougher territory with an almost John Carpenter edge to it. Pulsing arps with a stabby piano melody for sweaty dance floor scenarios and a slightly 'ooft!' breakdown. Very nice indeed.
Title track "Future Departure" closes the party off and pops with 1980's electro style synths & a bass line to match before it drops into some North West UK style pianos making this very much an Italo-Rave-Cosmic-Psychedelic essential bit of dance floor weapon-ism. BIG!
